This work is currently on display at the Greater Victoria Public Library (Emily Carr Branch) through the Victoria Arts Council’s Satellite Program. In Through the Window, I experimented with merging long exposures and fast motion. Photographed traveling at 100 km/h through a moving car’s window, it explores the challenge of abstracting the landscape while preserving moments of Highway 97 in British Columbia's Interior.

Using a 0.5-second exposure, I tracked individual subjects with the camera, allowing parts of the environment to remain in focus while others dissolve into the motion. Through this process, I mimicked the shifting focus of an eye as it flicks from each new subject that appears Through the Window.

Dancer 2025

Dancer 2025 is a multidisciplinary photography and video exploration project in mixing visual abstraction with old and new technology. The project first started out as photographs, then created into a video as an exercise with AI tools, and then copied to a VHS tape.

The video was ultimately displayed on a CRT TV hooked up to a VCR. The project was a technical challenge, as the tools required for VHS taping are not easily accessible.

Video to VHS

The decision to transfer the video onto VHS emerged from my interest in experimenting with new technologies while encouraging conversations about AI and art. As an artist, I am interested in exploring the discourse surrounding AI and felt it was important to engage with these tools firsthand in order to better understand how they function and how they might be used creatively.

The artistic community has, understandably, strong criticisms of AI, with its copyright and climate change implications. By presenting the work through the degraded aesthetic of VHS and a CRT TV, I sought to momentarily strip away those preconceptions, allowing viewers to engage first with the artistic output itself rather than their feelings about the technology used to create it.

Clinical Self Portraits

This was a series experimenting with abstract ways of using light. I often discover my ideas as I play, and found success with holding a light to my chest. I then began exploring ideas surrounding the soul.

What does a soul look like? How does it live in our bodies? Where does it go when we die?
